Performance comparison of C276, C2000 and inconel686
C276, hastelloyc2000 and inconel686 are nickel based alloys. Hastelloy series alloys have incredible corrosion resistance and provide unparalleled quality in many industries. The main alloying elements of these metals are chromium, molybdenum and tungsten. Each element has its own unique quality: chromium can enhance the corrosion resistance in oxidation environment, molybdenum can enhance the corrosion resistance in reduction environment, and chromium, molybdenum and tungsten improve the crevice corrosion and pitting corrosion resistance of the alloy.
In summary, this mixture of metals and elements works together to provide excellent resistance to non oxidizing acids and corrosion cracking. Hastelloy is particularly versatile: it is used in various applications of chimney with heat exchanger.
Performance comparison between C276, C2000 and inconel686 (Figure 1)
(1) The chromium content of alloy 22 (n06022) is higher than C276, indicating that it has higher corrosion resistance in oxidizing aqueous medium when there is a high content of chloride ion.
(2) C2000 (n06200) has the same chemical composition as alloy59, but 1.6% copper is added. This enhances the corrosion resistance of the alloy to the reducing environment, but at the cost of reducing thermal stability and weldability.
(3) Inconel686 alloy is made of the highest combination of chromium, molybdenum and tungsten, which gives the alloy excellent pitting and crevice corrosion resistance. This is achieved at the expense of thermal stability and weldability.
